Bubba passed away today.  He left us quietly in the night.  We know now that he was older; we're happy we could provide him with warmth & food and a safe place to stay for his last days.  Special thanks to the staff at Centennial Kennels.  We'll be starting a special page In Loving Memory of rescue dogs who've shared their lives with us.

Bubba was found as a stray in the north end of Puget Sound area.  At the shelter, he told the staff if they would just let him stay until the rescue people came,  he would show them some tricks - and sure enough he did!  Come play with him!

I'm SugarShaq. If you think I'm striking now, wait until I have my all-new silky coat in! ... Like his namesake, Shaq is a great big tall guy with long muscular legs & big snowshoe feet. He's so warm & loving that we wanted to call him SugarShack but that seemed a bit "sweet" for such a proud looker. He's strong but biddable. We could immediately take food out of his mouth and handle his paws; he liked to walk and ranged all over the car trying to sit on the front seat. He showed no interest in the cats at his foster home but was quite happily interested in all the other dogs. The first time we walked he jumped at cars; might have been looking for someone ... someone who at some time gave this guy the love he's still looking for. A fenced yard is a must!
